Allen Public Library is growing! Plans are underway for a large expansion to add up to 45,000 sq. ft. to the current library location. Construction is expected to begin in 2022 with projected completion in 2023.
Hidell and Associates Architects, Inc. collected community feedback in a 30-question survey which closed August 2021. The feedback will help guide conceptual designs for the expansion project.
An eight-member steering committee comprised of Allen residents is slated to visit four North Texas libraries that recently underwent expansion/renovation: Bedford Public Library, Coppell Public Library, John and Judy Gay Library in McKinney, and George W. Hawkes Downtown Library in Arlington.
Results of this feedback will be incorporated into the conceptual design of the facility. Floorplans, landscaping and exterior elevations are expected to be presented to Allen City Council by the end of 2021.
